This one day seminar will be wide ranging covering the dominant aspects and issues of the Australian and World coal supply/demand dynamics and audience participation is encouraged.
The theme and structure of World Coal Outlook 2008 will continue the theme set in the nine World Coal Outlook conferences Professor Don Barnett ran while Director of the Mineral and Energy Economics Centre at Macquarie University. The highly interactive seminars covering most of the Australian and world coal industry issues were strongly supported by a broad cross section of the Australian and Asian coal industry.

Don Barnett, Managing Director, MINEC Pty Ltd is internationally recognised as the leading economic analyst of the Australian Coal Industry. Former Associate Professor and Foundation Director Mineral and Energy Economics Centre, Macquarie University, Visiting Professor Mineral Economics Curtin University, Centennial Fellow School of Earth and Mineral Sciences, The Pennsylvania State University, consultant to over 50 companies and government agencies.

Bede Boyle, Convener, AustCoal Consulting Alliance. AustCoal is an alliance of 12 leading firms who assist coal industry executives achieve their strategic and operational objectives. Former Manager Coal and Allied, and over 15 years high level consulting in the coal industry and general management.

Cost Movements:
Since 2003 costs have jumped dramatically. Where are they now? Can costs be contained? Can and will costs fall back to the pre China boom times?
