MAJOR COAL TECHNOLOGIES SUMMIT – SYDNEY – JUNE 2010

 

Hear from some of Australia’s top experts on the latest developments in low emission coal technologies at the upcoming NSW Low Emissions Coal Technologies Summit on 8‑9 June at the Sofitel Wentworth, Sydney.  The Summit will showcase those successful projects that will receive funding under the NSW Clean Coal Fund to research, develop and demonstrate the very latest in Low Emissions Coal Technologies. These innovative projects to be announced will cover the breadth of coal application.  Accordingly, the program will be themed in sessions that cover the life cycle of coal and on the importance of developing technologies to reduce the greenhouse gas emissions associated with each stage of utilisation. These sessions include:

·         Importance of R&D

·         Dealing with Fugitive Emissions

·         Increasing Combustion Efficiency

·         Conducting public awareness campaigns

·         Improving Capture Technologies

·         Developing storage options for NSW

·         Alternative and efficient uses of coal

·         Where to from here for NSW

 

Learn also about NSW first ever Post-Combustion Capture and Storage Demonstration Project and State Wide Assessment of CO2 Storage Capacity Project, both of which have already commenced. Special international guest speakers from Japan and Korea will also be presenting on Low Emission Coal Technology developments in their country. In addition to the successful applicants of the Clean Coal Fund to be announced, other confirmed speakers include:

·         The Hon. Ian Macdonald - NSW Minister for Mineral and Forest Resources and State and Regional Development.

·         Mr Kazuhiro Tamaru - Deputy General Manager, Planning and Coordination Department, Japan Coal Energy Center (JCOAL).

·         Dr Mark Davies – Managing Director of Australian National Low Emissions Coal Research & Development (ANLEC R&D)

·         Mr Jong-Nam Kim - Director, Climate Change Technology Research Division, Korean Institute of Energy Research

·         Mr Ralph Hillman - Executive Director, Australian Coal Association (ACA).

·         Mr Masaji Fujioka - Head of Coal Gas Group, Resources Department, JCOAL.

·         Mr Peter Grubnic - Projects Manager, Global Carbon Capture and Storage Institute (GCCSI).

·         Mr Peter Coombes - Sustainability Manager, Delta Electricity.

·         Mr Brad Mullard - Executive Director, Mineral Resources, I&I NSW.

·         Mr Peter Cook - Chief Executive, CO2CRC.

·         Ms Nicole Williams - Chief Executive, NSW Minerals Council.

The Summit will be solution-oriented and technology focussed on reducing greenhouse gas emissions from coal. It is open to all participants from government, industry and non-government organisations.  This 2-day summit will be hosted by the NSW Government. This will be a major event to find out more about what NSW is committing to in terms of research, development, and demonstration of Low Emission Coal Technologies that will support a diverse mix and application of solutions to energy production.  

The price for registering to attend the two-day Conference is just $795 (inc. GST).
